Dr. Zhuoling Ren, T.C.M.D., president and founder of the China Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has over 30 years of training and clinical experience in TCM.
She did her undergraduate and graduate study in TCM at Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a major concentration in acupuncture. Dr. Ren wrote her graduate thesis on the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and western medicine and is considered a top expert in the field.
During her training she blended ancient TCM ideas with modern western subjects. Along with her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine Dr. Ren’s education included anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pharmaceutics, pediatrics, dermatology and gynecology in addition to other subjects.
After her 8 years of study, Dr. Ren became a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Xiyuan Hospital, Beijing, and was later appointed to doctor-in-charge of its acupuncture department. (Xiyuan Hospital is recognized as the world’s leading authority on TCM.) Dr. Ren also holds the title of professor at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing. (The highest authority for the research and teaching of TCM.) As a member of the graduate faculty of the China Academy, Dr. Ren served on the jury responsible for judging Phd theses related to Traditional Chinese Medicine. While at the China Academy she was assigned to head the foreign student program, teaching and overseeing the program.
In 1990, Dr. Ren was assigned by the Chinese Government to lead teaching and supervising of Chinese medicine at the Acupuncture Center of Sarajevo (the former Yugoslavia).
Dr. Ren has been a national speaker on the topic of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, has received many awards for her work, and has published numerous articles in various Chinese medical journals.
She has also been a frequent speaker in the twin cities for a number of years.
Dr. Ren is a fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine as well as author of the book “1000 cures for 200 ailments” (Collins, 2005).
